Turkuaz (Firuze)
Turkuaz taşı, ‘Firuze’ olarak da bilinir. Turkuaz taşı, en değerli taşlardan biridir. Yeryüzünün yeşil, gökyüzünün de mavi rengini barındırır. Bu sebeple ‘denge taşı’ olduğu kabul edilir. Turkuaz taşı (Firuze taşı), SiO2 kristalli minerallerin genel ismidir. Volkanik kayaçlarda kendi kendine, doğal bir oluşum süreciyle meydana gelir. Şekli altıgen olan Kuvars kristallerinin katı ve sert bir yapısı mevcuttur. Yerkabuğunun takriben yüzde 10-15’lik bir kısmı Kristal Kuvars mineralinden müteşekkildir. Tarih boyu mücevher yapımında vazgeçilmez bir yer tutan bu taş, mekânlarda süs eşyası olarak geniş kullanım alanı bulmuştur. Komutanların ve askerlerin yanından ayırmadığı bu taş, savaş malzemelerinin işlenmesinde sıklıkla tercih edilmiştir. Fosfat mineral grubuna aittir. Yapısında bolca alüminyum, Bakır ve fosfat bulunur. Özgül ağırlık derecesi 2,60 – 2,90 olarak belirtilmektedir. Mumsu, opak (saydam olmayan) bir yapısı vardır.
